    琼·芳登再次出演一个《蝴蝶梦》式的女主角：一位来到陌生之地的精神敏感的女性，面对有所隐瞒的居民，揭开此地的秘密。前期巫术虚实难辨的氛围营造得不错，但疗养院一段作为转折比较突兀。第三幕的叙事角度有趣，拉长揭秘与营救的节奏，走入某种007模式，反派向主角推销展示自己的邪恶大计，给足翻盘机会。仓促泄气的结局仍是老恐怖片的通病，但最后近十分钟的疯魔仪式里，大家敬业的表演确实在滑稽之中带出诡异。超市代替杂货铺、教室装上扬声器的结局，寓意着进步与科学，为民俗恐怖片的团圆结局写下细腻的一笔
